President's Corner

Lilly Anickat, RN, MSN, CCRN

Namaste and welcome to Georgia Indian Nurses Association (GINA)! It is an honor to receive another opportunity to serve as the president of GINA and to represent a vibrant group of compassionate and dedicated nurses and nursing students. Previously, I have received the privilege to serve as the president of this outstanding organization during 2015-2016 term.

Are you looking how to connect with nurses who can understand your passion, challenges as well as your triumphs? Join GINA! In GINA, you will have many opportunities to connect with people of similar interests, and this is a place to lead and grow. GINA is a professional organization for nurses and nursing students of Indian origin and heritage, and it provides tremendous new opportunities such as:

1. Professional development (mentorship, scholarships, tuition discounts, seminars/conferences, free nursing contact hours, CPR certification, job opportunities and recommendation letters, etc.).

2. Leadership development (Awards, recognition, podium presentation, speaker opportunities, nursing advocacy, journal publications, etc.).

3. Community connections (Health fairs, volunteering opportunities, networking with other organizations, social and cultural events, etc.).

By joining this organization automatically provide you membership in NAINA-the National Association of Indian Nurses of America. You can enjoy all the benefits NAINA offers without any additional cost. Moreover, there are various opportunities for leadership roles in the national level committees.

GINA events set stage where you can make social connections, ask questions, discuss ideas, and get peer-to-peer support. This networking opportunities are not limited with nurses in GA but throughout the United States. No time for any of these?? To be successful, whether it is professional or personal life, often we must face and overcome challenges and obstacles rather than smooth sailing. As nurses we all are great in problem solving, very innovative and extremely creative.

GINA is a perfect place where you can showcase your talents. You can reach where you want to be. Together, we will make GINA stronger and more interesting and exciting! I wish each of you all the success in your current and future endeavors.
