GINA NURSE OF THE YEAR 2024!

Congratulations to Suvetha Balasubramanian, MS, RN, CCRN for being awarded GINA’s Nurse of the Year 2024! 

Suvetha Balasubramanian has served as the Cultural Chairperson for GINA in 2023, consistently fulfilling her responsibilities while also volunteering to assist in various capacities. She has been an active member and has taken the initiative to assume the role of Education Chair. Through her dedication and focused approach, she has organized several educational webinars for GINA members. Currently, she is collaborating with the NAINA Education Chair to understand the process for applying for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Additionally, she coordinates cultural programs and food-related activities.

Suvetha has been a part of the ICU team for several years and, as of 2023, transitioned to the PACU, where she has been promoted to Charge Nurse. Known for her humility and hospitality, she is open to feedback and suggestions. As a mother of two young girls, she adeptly balances her personal and professional responsibilities with remarkable finesse.

Betsy’s dedication to nursing and her wealth of leadership experience truly make her deserving of this prestigious recognition. As a seasoned unit director at Emory University Hospital, she has showcased unwavering commitment to patient care and demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities throughout her career. Betsy’s long-standing association with GINA, from its inception, reflects her commitment to the nursing community. In her role as an advisory board member, she persists in leveraging her expertise to propel advancements within the organization. This achievement not only recognizes Betsy’s outstanding contributions but also serves as an inspiration to fellow nurses. Here’s to celebrating Betsy Augusthy’s well-deserved success and the positive impact she continues to make in the nursing profession!

Congratulations to Jensine Chemmalakuzhy

Congratulations to Jensine Chemmalakuzhy Jensine Chemmalakuzhy, MSN, APRN, AGNP-C, is a board certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and currently works at Piedmont Heart of Greensboro. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Emory University. As a student at Emory, she was a student ambassador and volunteered in Eleuthera, Bahamas. As a registered nurse, she worked at Emory University Hospital’s CVICU and Cardiac Observation Area where she honed her passion for Cardiology. Jensine is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor’s Society. Jensine is an active member of GINA and currently serves as the APRN chair.
