President's Message 2024-26
Lilly Anickat, RN, MSN, CCRN
Namaste and welcome to the Georgia Indian Nurses Association (GINA)! It is an honor to receive another opportunity to serve as the president of GINA and to represent a vibrant group of compassionate and dedicated nurses and nursing students. Previously, I had the privilege of serving as president of this outstanding organization during the 2015-2016 term.
Are you looking for how to connect with nurses who can understand your passion and challenges as well as your triumphs? Join GINA! In GINA, you will have many opportunities to connect with people who share your interests, and it is a place to lead and grow. GINA is a professional organization for nurses and nursing students of Indian origin and heritage, and it provides tremendous new opportunities, such as:
1. Professional development (mentorship, scholarships, tuition discounts, seminars/conferences, free nursing contact hours, CPR certification, job opportunities, recommendation letters, etc.).
2. Leadership development (awards, recognition, podium presentations, speaker opportunities, nursing advocacy, journal publications, etc.).
3. Community connections (health fairs, volunteering opportunities, networking with other organizations, social and cultural events, etc.).
By joining this organization, you automatically provide membership in NAINA, the National Association of Indian Nurses of America. You can enjoy all the benefits NAINA offers without any additional cost. Moreover, there are various opportunities for leadership roles in the national-level committees.
GINA events set the stage for you to make social connections, ask questions, discuss ideas, and get peer-to-peer support. These networking opportunities are not limited to nurses in GA but throughout the United States. No time for any of these?? To be successful, whether in professional or personal life, we often must face and overcome challenges and obstacles rather than smooth sailing. As nurses, we are all great in problem-solving, very innovative, and extremely creative.
GINA is a perfect place to showcase your talents. You can reach where you want to be. Together, we will make GINA stronger, more interesting, and exciting! I wish each of you all the success in your current and future endeavors.
